Russel A “Rusty “ Wier (May 3, 1944- October 9, 2009) American singer songwriter.Auustin Texas was his home. Rusty was an American singer- songwriter from Austin,Texas.His career dates back to 1966 and covered multiple music genres.Rusty was a drummer in an Austin garage rock band, The Wig whose 1965 single Cracking Up(a Wier composition)was included on Vol 1 of the Pebble series of compilation album. In the 1970 Rusty switched to Country and became a fixture on the burgeoning music scene and had a cult sucess with I Heard You Been Laying My Old Lady. He is most famous for Don’t It Make You Wanna Dance which was a minor pop hit for him.Bonnie Raitt recorded a version of this song and was a countryhit included on Urban Cowboy sound track. Rusty always had a smile on him and became a friend to all.
