“Pasco Pat”, Patrick Jerome Ivey, is an Ohio-born singer/songwriter. Now a Florida resident, Pat’s interest in music was encouraged by his parents. His mother played saxophone in an all-female band. His father strummed guitar. Exposed to jazz, country, folk and rock in his teens Pat and friends formed the garage band “The Reformation” in 1968. Before graduating from Akron University in 1973 Pat played bass joining guitarists Tom Barkoukis and Mike Baugh forming “The Grant Street Mudwrestlers.” After moving to Florida in 1974 Pat went solo and focused on songwriting with local themes. Originally billed as “Pinellas Pat”, in 1984 he moved to Zephyrhills in Pasco County. His musical interests then became secondary to marriage, family, and making a career in the newspaper business. Retiring in 2016, Pat’s enjoying renewed interest in recording and performing with a focus on Florida and its folklore. Pat’s influences include Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams, Woody Guthrie, John Prine, and Loudon Wainwright III. Others that have influenced his songwriting include Dan Hicks, Townes Van Zandt, Merle Haggard, and Will McLean. His favorite composers are Alfred Schnittke, Henry Mancini, Arvo Part, Angelo Badalamenti, Richard Rodgers, Nino Rota, Philip Glass, Rachel Portman and Duke Ellington.
