Leroy Carr was a top performer in the pIedmont style of piano blues from 1928 to 1935. His style was a rolling piano chording and right-hand melodic combination. He was accompanied regularly by guitarist Scrapper Blackwell whose style was familiar at the time but not common. It was identifiable by his punching attack on single-string fills and full solos.
