Today, we will address a curiosity about a song in particular, a beautiful pop-gospel, composed and played by a band that just doesn't exist. It is not authored by an evangelical band, or even Catholic. It became famous in the 70s for being part of the soundtrack of the original version of the soap opera "Selva de Pedra". His name is simple and powerful: "Jesus". Only that. It was not a constant in the 70s for bands to stick to names. Let's tell you a little bit about this crazy story, for fun. The musician Marcos Maynard and his cousin Can (Antonio Carlos Macedo) wanted to start a band. At first it would be from Bossa Nova (argh!), But God inspired them and it was really a rock band. A certain Dudu France was invited to be the drummer. The first name chosen for the band was "Bumble Bee", but it seems that it was difficult for the public to pronounce it; decided to change it to "Colt 45". Dudu França became the vocalist. Colt 45 played on the program Jovem Guarda, by Roberto Carlos. With the end of Jovem Guarda, Colt 45 also ended. Ended? Nothing like that! More certain to say it changed its name (counting) ... now it was called "Memphis". This group is part of the wave of Brazilians who sang in English, whose most famous member is the priceless Morris Albert (do fossils like me remember "Feelings"?). It turns out, in 1972, a disc from a band called "The Clocks" was released. This is the only album where you can find the original version of "Jesus". It's very rare. Clocks, in fact, was Memphis with a new name (who knows why). Then, with a Johann Sebastian Bach-style introduction, this petard entered the soundtrack for Selva de Pedra, and there the band was credited as "Billbox Group"
