Considering himself more a songwriter than a singer, Ben Reneer is determined to tell stories in the best way he knows how: through the universal language of music. In addressing painful themes (”Orange Avenue” was written following the 2016 terrorist attack in Orlando, Florida) Reneer’s muse can tend to spiral towards nihilism. But somewhere in the pain there seems to be a sense of healing, and if nothing else, human connection. Reneer spent two years living in Central Florida serving a mission for the LDS church. Having grown up in the Rockies, it was a unique opportunity to connect with people, and his experience there seems to be revealed in some of his songs. Always in love with music, Reneer didn’t consider himself a songwriter till he’d been back from Florida for a year or so. Getting involved at open-mics and in the local music scene of Provo, UT gave him chances to develop his writing and performing and connect with artists such as @Kyson Kidd and @Tell the City (Nephi Henry). In July of 2017 Reneer released his first EP, Orange Avenue. The single “Hand” came out later that year, and by early 2018 he plans to release a second 5 song album.
