"P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)" is a Grammy Award-nominated 1983 hit single from Michael Jackson's 1982 hit album Thriller. It reached number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S.
The song was originally written by Jackson and Greg Phillinganes and was a mid-tempo soul jam. Quincy Jones wanted it to be more upbeat so he re-wrote it and it was Jones' version that appeared on the Thriller album.
At the 26th Grammy Awards, the song was nominated for Best R&B Song, alongside, Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'.
