About Everlasting

"Everlasting Love" is a song written by Buzz Cason and Mac Gayden, originally a 1967 hit for Robert Knight and since remade numerous times, most successfully by the Love Affair, as well as Town Criers, Carl Carlton, Sandra, and Gloria Estefan. The original version of "Everlasting Love" was recorded by Knight in Nashville, with Cason and Gayden aiming to produce it in a Motown style referencing the Four Tops and the Temptations. When released as a single, the song reached #13 on the US chart in 1967. Subsequently, the song has reached the US Top 40 three times, most successfully as performed by Carl Carlton, peaking at #6 in 1974, with more moderate success by the duo Rex Smith and Rachel Sweet (#32 in 1981) and Gloria Estefan (#27 in 1995). In the UK, "Everlasting Love" was covered by the Love Affair: with a standout vocal performance by Steve Ellis it achieved #1 status in January 1968. That version eclipsed the Robert Knight original, which stalled at #40, although the latter was reissued in 1974 and reached #19 in the UK. Also in 1968, a cover by the Australian group Town Criers reached #2 in the Australian charts.

My reflection of all the things you would say
And the hopeless vision of how you move me that way

Oh
But everybody sees someone mislead
How these contradictions got me out of my head

For understanding, let me lay it on the line
For all decisions, we ain't got but a little time
Oh all you needed, but you can't say that I didn't try
You're everlasting and I would do it over again, again
Do it over again ... oooo oooo oooo

All or nothin' baby, is a feeling I know
Oh this contemplation's turning up on it's own
Ohhh your body's churnin', when livin' is rough
But are you yearnin' or are you givin' it up

For understanding, let me lay it on the line
For all decisions, we ain't got but a little time
Oh all you needed, you can't say that I didn't try
You're everlasting and I would do it over again, again
Do it over again
oooo oooo oooo

Devine emotion
Sanctified and true
Ohhh what's worth saving if your not feelin' it too
No compromisin' could be ready for change
If your feigning with devotion
You know it's never too late

For understanding, let me lay it on the line
For all decisions we ain't got but a little time
Oh all you needed, you can't say that I didn't try
You're everlastiing and I would do it over again, again
Do it over again
oooo oooo oooo

For understanding, let me lay it on the line
For all decisions, we ain't got but a little time
Oh all you needed, you can't say that I didn't try
You're everlasting and I would do it over again, again
Do it over again
oooo oooo oooo
