About Killing Strangers

"Killing Strangers" is a song by American rock band Marilyn Manson from their ninth studio album, The Pale Emperor (2015). It was written and produced by the eponymous lead singer and Tyler Bates, and was first released when it appeared in Keanu Reeves' 2014 film John Wick. The song was inspired by the PTSD experienced by Manson's father after his time spent serving in the US Armed Forces during the Vietnam War. The track peaked within the top ten of the Billboard Hard Rock Digital Songs. The song garnered generally positive reviews from music critics, with several publications favorably comparing the song to several of the band's previous album openers.

This world doesn't need no opera, we need it for the operation
We don't need a bigga knife (a bigga knife)
'Cause we got guns, we got guns, we got guns (we got guns)
We got guns, you betta run (ya betta run, ya betta run, ya betta run)

We're killin' strangers, we're killin' strangers
We're killin' strangers, so we don't kill the ones that we love
We're killin' strangers, we're killin' strangers
We're killin' strangers, so we don't kill the ones that we love

Love, love

We pack demolition
We can't pack emotion
Dynamite, we just might
So blow us a kiss, blow us a kiss
Blow us a kiss, and we'll blow you to pieces

We're killin' strangers, we're killin' strangers
We're killin' strangers, so we don't kill the ones that we love
Love, love, love

And we got guns, we got guns
Motherfuckers better, better better run
We got guns, we got guns
Motherfuckers better run

We got guns, we got guns
Motherfuckers better,better better run
We got guns, we got guns
Motherfuckers better run

We're killin' strangers, we're killin' strangers
We're killin' strangers, so we don't kill the ones that we love
We're killin' strangers, we're killin' strangers
We're killin' strangers, so we don't kill the ones that we love
Love, love, love, love, love, love

You better run
We got guns, we got guns, we got gunse

Marilyn Manson

Brian Hugh Warner (born January 5, 1969), better known by his stage name Marilyn Manson, is an American rock musician and former music journalist known for his controversial stage persona and image as the lead singer of the eponymous band Marilyn Manson. His stage name was formed from juxtaposing the names of two American cultural icons, namely actress Marilyn Monroe and multiple murder convict Charles Manson as a critical and, simultaneously, laudatory appraisal of America and its peculiar culture. The seemingly outrageous visual and vocal styles he employs, his unique interpretations of familiar songs and the controversy surrounding his lyrics and imagery have led to his very pronounced public appeal. more »
