It's Your Thing/Jackson's Thing
by 29th Street Saxophone Quartet

A man like myself finds it rather tough
To keep a romance going, with all the stuff
That it takes to keep a woman around,
Because I travel a lot, from town to town.

From town to town and city to city,
Making love with this horn, and I show no pity,
'Cos the life I live I will not trade.
And I told all this to my latest babe,

Thinking she would rant and cry and rave.
But instead, she looked at me with a smile
And said "go ahead, Jackson, play for a while.

"It's your thing. Do what you want to do.
I can't tell you who to rock it to."
She said "it's your thing. Do what you want to do.
I can't tell you who to slam it to."

Well most women I know would try to stop the show,
They'd knock down my action, not ready to go.
But this baby's different; very secure,
Fine as wine and so mature.

Her philosophy has a powerful effect;
She really stimulates my intellect.
So when I think about the risks for the sake of fun
And all the disappointment of love on the run,

I add them up and they don't add to much,
'Cos they can never equal a single touch
Of somebody I love. You've just got to have,
With a heavy-duty Jones that just won't pass.

She got her point across, and I don't take it lightly.
She also reassured me she's alone nightly.
'Cos she's very happy with me the way I am,
And by the time I get home, I'll be a better man.

So you all can continue to have your fling.
When I see my woman I'm gonna do the right thing.

"Do what you want to do.
I can't tell you (word!) who to rock it to."
She said "it's your thing (ha! ha!). Do what you want to do.
I can't tell you who to slam it to."
