While Joel Zimmerman was born in 1981, his pseudonym Deadmau5 was created in 2005 after said animal crawled into his computer, died and a month later the smell became a concern. In 2008 he became Producer of the Year, he also became the most selling artist on Beatport with more than 30,000 sales only on Beatport with his singles "Not Exactly" and "Faxing Berlin".
