Axamenta is a Belgian band formed in 1993 that plays a musical style of melodic death/black metal. Recently, however, the band has integrated elements of progressive metal, along with inspiration from movie scores, which led the band to replace keyboards with orchestra samples. So far, the band has released two demos, two EPs, and two full-length albums.
Axamenta was formed in 1993 as a trio made up of vocalist and guitarist Koen Vriesacker, guitarist Steven De Meyer, and drummer Frederik Van Mieghem. This line-up was behind their first demo, Echoes, which was released independently in 1995. The demo was a death metal oriented demo. Another demo, titled Into a Dream, was made in 1997, but with a much different line-up than on the first demo. The independently released demo was also death metal oriented, but held inspiration from doom metal as well.
