Free People's of Krishna Consciousness, also known as The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), is a religious organization commonly referred to as the Hare Krishna movement. Founded in 1966 by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, ISKCON promotes a form of devotional Hinduism centered around worshiping Lord Krishna. The movement gained popularity in the 1960s and 1970s, particularly in Western countries, due to its distinctive chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra. ISKCON also produces and releases devotional music, including kirtans (chants) and bhajans (devotional songs), often performed by its members in gatherings and festivals. The music aims to evoke spiritual devotion and spread the teachings of Krishna consciousness.
